Kinetic Text for Illustrators and Designers

These projects were made in the Digital Prototyping course I taught at Pratt in the Spring of 2023. This course is offered within the Communications Design department and presented challenges I wasn't used to in previous courses, namely, that the students within this department are a mix of graphic designers as well as illustrators. In order to create an assignment that would have constructive aims for both sets of students, while also teaching skills in After Effects in 5 weeks, I created a Kinetic Text assignment that provided opportunities for the illustrators to incorporate their own original drawings and the designers to explore typefaces. The assignment still served as an appropriate starting place for students to learn basic skills in AE, as well as further explore the use of color, composition and rhythm.
